this is HUGE

by admin on December 7, 2009

i had a chance to speak about RunTellmanRun to a roomful of eager entrepreneurs at Mat Bacak and Mark Joyner’s “Survival Tactics for Tough Times” seminar in Atlanta. i hopped up on stage at 5:45 p.m., knowing in the back of my head that i had to be on a plane back to Ohio in a few hours.

moments before taking the stage, i realized i didn’t have the proper connecting cable to hook my Mac into the projector, thus rendering my entire PowerPoint presentation useless. problems can always be solved, though, and Josh (my company’s copywriter) had the bright idea of pointing the webcam of a PC at my Mac’s screen. a total duct-tape solution, but i think it added authenticity. that authenticity was probably key to raising thousands and thousands of dollars for RunTellmanRun in one hour.

that’s right, between the few hundred people in the room, i was able to raise over $35,000 for homeless youth. and i have a plan to get that number up to $100,000.

back to the presentation… i spoke for about 45 minutes and introduced the idea of “crowdsourcing”. basically crowdsourcing involves many many people donating small chunks of money for an end goal – the more people the merrier. i wanted everyone in that room to donate.

i delivered my overview of the run, then asked everyone to go to the back of the room and donate as much as possible. and donate they did. there was a swarm around the back table as the M.C. called out donations like an auctioneer. a $250 donation here. $1,000 over there. someone even donated $10,000. another marketer told me she wants to donate 10% of all her profits as long as the run is going on. and then, to make everything absolutely perfect, a very authentic-looking Santa Claus strode up and handed me $30 cash.

and that’s how i was able to raise $35,000+ for RunTellmanRun in one hour. it was so exciting, and it revealed enormous possibilities for fund raising over the course of this project. it made me so happy.

i won’t get into the details, but rest assured my internet marketing hat is on and i’m going to figure out a way ride this wave and get us to $100,000.

SHABAMBO!

P.S. the donation from Santa Claus totally made my day. you should totally match the big guy and leave $30 under the RunTellmanRun Christmas tree. just click the red Donate Now button below – no wrapping necessary for this gift.

Dude!!! I had no idea you were in my hometown (Atlanta)!

So, I guess that answers my question then – you are still “working” on the run too. Did you just fly out of VA and head down to Atlanta for this one event?

Coming back to Atlanta any time soon? I so would have been there had I known you were in town.

RUN TELLMAN!!!!!! RUN!!!!!

Tellman,
Awesome!! Congratulations on your success at the seminar. It is only fitting that you didn’t have the right cable and you still adapted and overcame! Good luck as you work your way towards the holidays. I hope the weather treats you well. I wish I was there with you!
