Last week, Ben agreed to shave his beard if RunTellmanRun raised $2,000 in one week. well, the week came and went, and only about $600 came in. Ben said he wasn’t going to shave if we didn’t hit that $2,000 mark, but about 4 hours before midnight on Friday, when the challenge would end, Ben came into my hotel room.
He said, “you’re running barefoot all the way across the country no matter how much money we raise. so why wouldn’t i shave my beard no matter how much money is raised?”
I’ve known Ben over 20 years, and i know that he was very attached to that beard. he shaved it off not so much for the money, but as a personal sacrifice for our quest to help homeless youth in America. yeah, it’s hair, it’ll grow back; it’s a small thing compared to the enormous problem of youth homelessness. but shaving was a big deal to Ben. and that’s why i’m glad he’s on this trip.
so i’m asking everyone who’s reading this, what can you do for RunTellmanRun? you don’t have to donate money (although it’s awesome if you want to!). but what can you do to help raise awareness? maybe you could give up beer for a month, and blog about it or keep people up to date on facebook. maybe you could take up running and keep a log and donate $1 for every mile you run.
there are endless ways you can “do your own thang” and help us out. leave any ideas in the comments below, and once again, thank you for your support. you guys rock.

Doing all i can to raise awareness of RTR in my community of Carefree, Cave Creek and No. Scottsdale, AZ.. Am member of Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce. When Tellman runs through Phoenix, perhaps crew can drive Tellman up to our community to meet us! Also is anyone out there who could get ZZ Topp to sing “He’s Got Feet” to the tune of “She’s Got Legs?” A pop up with the guys driving off in their red roadster waving would be pretty cool too! Willing to bet they would make a large monetary donation to the cause as well!
Hey Ben, that was quite a sacrifice you made for the benefit of the kids. Especially with winter coming on! But I must say, you are one handsome dude without it. Y’all have a super team and I will find a way to help raise awareness in one fashion or another. Keep on running and we will keep on tagging along. Great work guys & gals. Run Tellman Run!
Wow, I’m impressed with what you’re doing. I truly hope many people will support you and your cause. Good luck with reaching your goal!
I have to say… Ben looks awesome without the beard. The scruff was definitely a signature thing, but just in terms of pure aesthetics, I say it’s an enormous improvement.
OMG Ben you look 10 years younger!

Wow, Ben….nice work…I know it was a huge sacrafice for you
You look great….I can’t believe my brother has another clean-cut friend! Scary world we live in
LOL
Give some bucks, call the radio station a couple of mornings a week to prompt people on the OPEN LINE program (our local stations buy sell trade and comment 6 day a week listener call in opportunity), keep the sign up for the duration and tend the numbers on it for as long as I’m in the neighborhood.
It’ll be about another 22,000 days before I’ll willingly shave though.
Have fun and be safe.
