Barefoot means BAREFOOT!

by admin on September 9, 2009

ok guys,
The big run starts in about 2 hours exactly (from when I write this).
There is a big press conference at 8:30 to kick things off…

I got interviewed on CBS radio last night, and they say the interview is gonna get syndicated across all the CBS Affiliates’ networks… so with a bit of luck a whole bucketload of folks are gonna be at the fun-run and thousands of people will be reading this post…

Thanks for your support everyone. People have been great – and it’s on!

Ok, I am gonna eat some oatmeal – reply to this post and tell the world what you think about Run Tellman Run!

SHABAMBO!
-Tellman

This is an amazing thing that you are attempting. I don’t know about the barefoot part. They say that a pair of sneakers lasts only about 500 miles. I’d think no less of you if you if you decided to wear running shoes. It’s a long way across the country. Best of luck.

I like the idea and what you’re doing, but I really don’t think you’re gonna make it all the way across. I hope you do, and good luck, but if I were a betting man, which I am, my money’s against you.

I was so excited to be able to meet you this morning and cheer you on for the trip (I waited at the entrance to the George Washington Bridge as you went over to New Jersey). But alas, I had something wrong about your route so I missed seeing you. It must be that you took a differnt bike path that I was expecting. I was thinking to escort you across the bridge. Anyhow, here is what I got from the experience. (1) when I put my shoes on this morning, I was so thankful for how supportive they felt, and how soft. Homeless teens likely do have shoes, but not always a coat in the winter nor a bed to sleep in (2) as I waited and waited and waited, I thought “I bet homeless kids wonder if something will come through like they expected” (3) after awhile I got HUNGRY and should have eaten more breakfast. Where I was waiting there was no place to get anything to eat. Another thing that homeless teens would face daily. Gulp….. Again, I am so thankful for what I have. And aware of what I have. (4) So, after waiting for hours I never saw you and got to yell “Run Tellman, RUN”. But your journey touched me anyhow. So thanks Tellman, I appreciate you. PS. We first met during those ADD calls you used to do with Stephanie Frank. This is “Karen from New York” : )

Tellman:

A verse from one of my favorite camp song “Pass it On”

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
and soon all those around you can warm up to its glowing.
That’s how it is with love, once you’ve experience it
You spread this love to everyone, you want to pass it on.

It was a pleasure talking to you, your family and the rest of your crew this morning. I am glad that I was able to do the 1 mile run, and experienced what I felt while running.
You are an inspiration Tellman and Good luck on the rest of your journey.

God Bless
Mercedes

OH MY GOD!

That was one of the most amazing things I have done!!
I just got back from running the first LEG of Tellman’s amazing journey across the country! I was just going to run ONE mile but 1 turned into 3, then 3 turned into 6…before I knew it I had 8 miles…I decided to just let go of fear and anything in my way and just followed them from battery park all the way across the George WASHINGTON BRIDGE! FOURTEEN MILES!! Yahoo!! That view was simply amazing! How many times did I almost quit?! I didn’t get up this morning and Know what I was going to do and didn’t expect to go out and run fourteen miles– when I can’t remember when the last time I ran even 4, BUT I DID! WOW! I guess I learned something today! The hardest part is to just start and then things just start happening. Is anything possible for ME? I am sure beginning to believe so! My knee is a little messed up but I know I have a body NOW… and will heal! …what else can I do with it?
I strongly suggest if you live near the course to run with Tellman, RUN with all your heart.

THANK YOU TELLMAN, CHRIS, MARK!!

SEE YOU AROUND!

PEACE!

Good luck on your run, Tellman.

It’s amazing what you’re doing.

Win, lose, or draw – you’re an inspiration to me and a testament to what one human can dream to do.

Bon Voyage Tellman

I am just as excited about what this will bring to our youth as I am about what an example it is to anyone with a dream. You are showing by example what thinking big and going after your dreams can do.

Live Your Dreams,

Jill Koenig

Tellman! You are AMAZING for doing this run…had I known sooner I would’ve trained to be able to run with you…

I’m going to follow your journey, post the crap out of it online to spread the word, and meet up with you 10 miles or more outside of L.A. to run with you as you complete your incredible awareness-raising run.

I am helping raise awareness and money to help homeless youth in San Diego and I LOVE that someone who has accomplished so much hasn’t forgotten what it’s like to be the underdog…
